Japan Airlines responds to relief call

Japan Airlines (JAL) is to fly a Boeing 747-400 to Jakarta, Indonesia carrying relief goods and aid personnel.

October 1: At the request of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Japan Airlines (JAL) is to fly a Boeing 747-400 to Jakarta, Indonesia carrying relief goods and aid personnel from the Agency to help in the aftermath of the strong earthquake that hit Indonesia’s Sumatra island yesterday.

The aircraft will fly from Tokyo’s Narita Airport to Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport, landing in the early hours of October 2. JAL also says that it will provide free transport of relief goods and aid personnel from Japan at the request of any other non-profit public organisations based in Japan, such as the Japanese Red Cross from October 5 to 23.
