French military joins in search for A330 wreckage

June 4: A French Air Force E-3F Advanced Warning and Control Systems (AWACS) aircraft based at Avord in France took off on June 2 to participate in the research of Air France Flight 447 that disappeared off the coast of Brazil on Monday. The E-3F is operating out of Dakar, Senegal in western Africa.

The French Navy has also provided a Falcon 50 and an Atlantique. The French military is coordinating efforts with other foreign forces in the disaster area, most notably the Brazilian and Spanish services.
