New Vueling takes off

July 9: New Vueling, the new airline created through the merger of Clickair and Vueling, commenced operations shortly after midnight. The merged airline is now the second-largest Spanish carrier after Iberia, which has a 45.85% stake in the new airline. Low-cost carriers Ryanair and easyJet are also major shareholders.

On its first day, New Vueling operated 263 flights on 71 routes and will base itself in the new Terminal 1 at Barcelona from September.

New Vueling has a fleet of 35 A320s, 17 from Vueling and 18 from Clickair.
