New Weather Radar from REX

Milviz and REX Simulations have released the WX Advantage Radar System for FSX, FSX:Steam Edition and Prepar3D.

The WX Advantage Radar is based on the Bendix RDR-4B system and features a non-fading, high-resolution colour display with selectable transmitter/receiver ranges up to 160nm.

The system measures precipitation data in real time, based on cloud density and displays realistic and accurately placed radar echoes. Turbulence ‘intelligence’ is built in to isolate potential radar echoes which can contain moderate to severe turbulence. The radar displays four levels of precipitation: green for light precipitation, yellow for moderate, red for heavy and magenta for severe turbulence.

It includes full tilt functions to analyse storm cell structures and accurately represents the effect of radar attenuation when larger and denser cells are in front of other cells – causing a rain shadow effect. It also comes with an aircraft gauge management tool to install the gauge on any aircraft.

The package takes advantage of hardware acceleration for greater performance and level of detail and can be used with any 3rd-party or default weather engine.
