First ATR for Sunrise

Sunrise Airways has taken delivery of its first ATR 42-320, OY-CIU (c/n 112).  The aircraft will be used to expand the company’s network in the western Caribbean.  Operations began in early March between Port-au-Prince, Haiti and destinations in Cuba including Camagüey and Santiago de Cuba.

President of Sunrise Airways, Philippe Bayard said: “Our investment in this aircraft underscores our commitment to expand our route network and provide the travelling public with the very best.”

The carrier leased the aircraft under an ACMI agreement with Danish Air Transport.  It currently operates three 19-seat British Aerospace Jetstream 32s, serving Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtien, Santo Domingo and Santiago de Cuba.  Last year it was the first Haitian operator to be awarded a Part 129 Operating Permit, enabling it to fly scheduled services.
