Scottish regional carrier Loganair has completed the refurbishment of the first of 13 Saab 340s. The £3.5m upgrade programme involves fully stripping and then repainting the aircraft, and installing a modernised cabin interior, including new lightweight seating, improved sound proofing and LED lighting. Overhaul and refurbishment of the first aircraft, G-LGNI (c/n 340B-160) Spirit of Orkney, took a team of 32 engineers approximately 7,000 man hours to complete.
Loganair Chairman David Harrison said: “Our engineers and support teams put an incredible amount of time and effort into the project, and I’m certain our customers will appreciate their endeavour and enjoy the comfort benefits the renewal project brings to the Saab 340 fleet.”
The upgrade programme, which is expected to take three years to complete, forms part of a wider-reaching £15 million investment that includes the purchase of two 50-seat Saab 2000s, a 31-seat Dornier 328 and £6 million in a new spares hub at Glasgow Airport.
