USAFE assets to move to Germany
The USAF has announced that RAF Mildenhall is to close by the end of this decade. USAFE KC-135R tankers will move to bases in Germany, as will the Special Operations Group’s CV-22s and MC-130Js. RAF Lakenheath has been announced as the first USAFE F-35A base, and it will house two squadrons from 2020. It is now clear what the timescale is for the relocation of F-15C and F-15Es back to the USA.
