A330 can now fly further

EASA has approved all Airbus A330 models for extra ETOPS duration.

November 12: The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved all Airbus A330 models for ETOPS (Extended-Range Operations for two-engined aircraft) “beyond 180 minutes”.

The A330 is the first twin-engined aircraft type to receive such approval, either from EASA or the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). A330 operators will now be able to plan a maximum ETOPS diversion time of approximately 240 minutes at one-engine speed under standard conditions, roughly about 1,700 nautical miles.
