Singapore defers A380 deliveries

Singapore Airlines has deferred delivery of eight A380s by between six and 12 months.

September 4: Singapore Airlines has deferred delivery of eight A380s by between six and 12 months, beginning from early next year. It was due to receive its 12th aircraft in April, but has delayed it until October and subsequent deliveries will be phased through until the 19th is delivered in January 2012, a year later than originally planned. The company says Airbus has agreed to the new delivery schedule.

Two aircraft scheduled for delivery in late 2009 are not affected. The airline currently operates nine A380s and says it is satisfied with its operational and commercial performance, which have proved to be popular with customers since the inaugural service nearly two years ago.
