American Airlines has agreed a deal with Boeing to acquire 42 B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, scheduled for delivery in 2012 through to 2018, with options on 58 additional 787s for delivery between 2015 and 2020.
The 787 announcement forms part of American’s fleet renewal plan – the airline recently said it will take delivery of 76 more fuel-efficient Boeing 737-800s in 2009 and 2010, replacing its narrow-body MD-80s.
