ABTA calls on Chancellor to help the holiday industry

ABTA Chief Executive Mark Tanzer has written to the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, urging him to address five key industry issues in his next budget. High on his list is the withdrawal of Air Passenger Duty, or at the very least cancelling the second phase increase planned for November 1, 2010.

He is also asking the government to regulate financial protection for all air travellers, emphasising that the failure of the XL Group graphically highlighted the pressing need for a comprehensive scheme.
