Vietnam Airlines Goes Neo

Vietnam Airlines has concluded a deal to acquire 12 Airbus A321neos.  The aircraft, which are being acquired on a long-term deal from Los Angeles-based Air Lease Corporation, are due for delivery between 2018 and 2019.

Commenting on the deal, Air Lease Corporation’s Executive Chairman Steven Udvar-Házy said: “Since 2010 we have been working closely with the leadership of Vietnam Airlines to develop a long term fleet plan encompassing the most modern and efficient Airbus and Boeing airplanes for the airline.  We have played an instrumental role in fulfilling the airline’s widebody strategy with the introduction of eight new 787-10s, and on the single aisle side, the addition of 12 new A321neos; all 20 aircraft to be leased from ALC.  We’re excited to support the development of one of the fastest growing airlines in Asia, and will continue to drive this important relationship between ALC and Vietnam Airlines.”

Vietnam Airlines expects to receive the first of its leased 787-10s in 2019.
