The Douglas DC-8-71 by Michael Wilson is now available for X-Plane 10.
The package comes with 15 high-resolution liveries such as Transcontinental Airways, United Airlines, Quebecair, UPS Worldwide, UPS classic, Eastern Air Lines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Air Transport International, Garuda Indonesian, Transamerica, Japan Airlines, DHL Express and Union de Transports Aériens. A paint kit for creating custom schemes is also included.
Other features include detailed pneumatic hoses beneath the spoilers and flaps along with special effects such as animated doors and stair car, visible hot air jet exhaust, animated thrust reversers and spinning fans. It also comes with 3D night lighting for both interior and exterior textures.
The 3D cockpit, by Julien Brezel, features an engineer’s panel with 42 functions, an FMC and low & high definition textures, depending on your graphic card abilities.
Other features include a comprehensive user manual and full checklist including cold and dark starts.
The model was testing by retired DC-8-63 and L-1011 pilot Andre Poirier, and DC-8-71 Captain Carlos Roldos, and DC-8-63 captain Gerhard Opel and the airfoils were custom-made by Peter Meinenger from x-planefreeware.net.
