Tanzania Government Acquires Q400s

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft has signed a firm purchase agreement with the Government of Tanzania for two Dash 8-Q400 turboprops.

Both aircraft will be delivered in a 76-seat configuration and will be used for commercial airline operations in the region.  Although not yet confirmed, it is expected the turboprops will join the government-owned Air Tanzania by September.  They will join a CRJ100 and a Dash 8-Q300 that currently operate on domestic and international routes from the carrier’s Dar es Salaam hub.

Dr Leonard Chamuriho, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Works and Communication, Tanzania, said: “Our new Q400 aircraft will provide affordable, convenient and comfortable air transport solutions.  We are committed to providing contemporary services for our passengers and are keen to further expand as our business grows to include new destinations here in Tanzania as well as across southern Africa.”
